Inching along. Box almost done. Added the base for the document. I just need to drill a hole for the light wires and then install the light. I like the finish of the wood – it works well with the plexiglas. Gluing the plexiglas just doesn't seem to ever work though: I always get imperfections on the glue line. I haven't figured out the secret of how to do that.
Can't seem to work this one out – nothing seems to work. Arghhh.... Made the plexiglas box, added the light, switched the top to MDF painted white, and ditched the photo. Lacking elegance and design interest.
Another try on the coloured bottom. Like the way the figures pop out. Needs a bit of matte to flatten out of the gloss. Good overall though.
Trying to figure out the background: shadow or no shadow? Not to keen on the white for the base, but color didn't seem to work. Some day I'll do something with color! The video plays well through the peephole. Water-based polyurethane finish on the wood worked really well.
Box and people done. Just need painting and varnishing. Don't like the text on the white in the photo - will get rid of that. Wish there was some way to put glass in front of the photo, but can't seem to figure out how to do that without using big metal clips or something.
Done for now. Just have to get some screws for the hinges, but all else is complete. Two coats of Osmo finish, but it feels a little waxy. Not sure how to fix that. Looking forward to getting some nice night shots with the lights illuminating the panels from the inside.
Back at work in the studio after a long lapse. Trying to finish the Medicine Cabinet started in the Fine Furniture Program. I no longer have access to the shop because everything shut down because of COVID-19, so figuring out how to manually do everything. Just fitted the door - up next, the hinges.
